Regular Ferry Boat Services are starting from Edirne to the Greek islands

The two sides of the Aegean are coming together

Turkey » Edirne

Ferry services to the Greek islands are starting in Enez district of Edirne. The first trips will be to Samothraki and Thasos islands. This will both facilitate access to the Greek islands for Turkish citizens and increase the flow of tourists from Greece to the Edirne region. The two sides of the Aegean are uniting in Thrace; regular ferry boat services from Enez to the Greek islands are starting. In Edirne, which has the potential to become one of the most important tourism destinations in the Northern Aegean, the Customs Port Project is nearing completion. As part of the works carried out in Enez, one of the strategic points of the Saros Bay, the port infrastructure has been largely completed. With the completion of this project, Enez will become one of the new centers of international maritime transportation. Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer stated that they aim to implement the project within this year and that the work has reached its final stage. TRANSPORTATION TO GREEK ISLANDS WILL BE EASIER, TOURIST FLOW WILL INCREASE!

How long is estimated to take the journey?

Official sailing times have not yet been announced. Estimated times based on the sea distance of the islands from Enez may be as follows:

  • Enez → Samothrace: Approximately 45–75 minutes due to the very short distance (varies depending on the type of ship used).
  • Enez → Thasos: Expected to be around 1.5–2 hours.

These times are just estimates; exact values will be clarified once the ship providing the service and the approved route are known. It is stated that, depending on demand, sea connections to destinations such as Alexandroupoli, Thessaloniki, and Athens may be considered in the future…
